The LED lighting patent held by LED Smart, can be characterized, among other factors, as an LED light source that uses high power premium silicon LEDs (over half watt), surface mounted on a circuit board, with the presence of a heat sink in the form of an aluminium extrusion.

Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent product safety certification organization established in 1894. Based in Northbrook, Illinois, UL develops standards and test procedures for products, materials, components, assemblies, tools and equipment, chiefly dealing with product safety.
LED Smart has UL recognition in the US and Canada on its low voltage LED light tubes and LED festoons.

The ETL Listed Mark is accepted by AHJs and retailers across North America as a product's mark of compliance to applicable electrical, gas and other safety standards. Intertek is an OSHA recognized NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) and accredited as a Testing Organization and Certification Body by the Standards Council of Canada.
LED Smart has ETL recognition on its high voltage (90V – 277V) LED light tubes.

LED Smart Inc uses premium high power silicon Nichia LED lights. These LEDs comply with the LM 80 standard and are certified retain 80% of the initial lumen output after 50,000 hours of use.
LED Smart’s lighting products are also produced with strict bin color sorting. This ensures that the light from each LED will match its neighbour.
